LABORATORIES
Wet Chemistry Laboratory
The wet chemistry laboratory analyses the basic elements of production: lime, dolomite, fluorspar, bauxite, ferro alloys, slag (as a part of the production process), carbon, sulphur and water.
Spectral Analysis Laboratories
Periodic checks using Optic Emission Spectrometer allows to analyze steel as it is produced.
Mechanical Testing Laboratory
For process control and to ensure conformity with standards, random test samples are taken during the rolling process. After physical inspection, the samples are subjected to tensile and bending tests as specified by international standards. Tensile strength testing is conducted using first class 1500 KN capacity testing devices. These devices, without need for a special test sample, can test Thermex steel of up to 50 mm.
Bending tests are of the horizontal variety and are done at high-speed and to the desired angle on a machine that can both bend and re-bend.
Metalography Laboratory
The metalography laboratory was established specifically to test steels that have undergone Thermex processing. It is also used for Research and Development activities involving fine cutting, bakelite coating and polishing. Analyses using special metal microscope are also conducted in this laboratory.
